Codemasters Founders Honored by the Queen

Two of the pioneers of the UK video games industry have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

David and Richard Darling, co-founders of game developers Codemasters, were both made Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). They built up their company from a bedroom enterprise into one of the best known games developers in the world. The firm is behind well established titles including the Colin McRae Rally series and Sensible Soccer. More recently the firm has ventured into online games, releasing Lord of the Rings Online.

      From what I see...it's just a title that places you in the Order, but as it's not a Knighthood (only the two higher ranks get that honor), it seems to me that it's just something to be able to tell people.

      "Oh hey, the Queen thinks we're awesome for out vidja game works. Woo! Let's get a pint."

        Yeah, pretty much that, you do get some letters after your name though.

        Also,
        "Oh hey, the Queen thinks we're awesome for out vijda games work. Let's get a pint!" is more commonly abbreviated as "Pub?" or "Drink?" (the hand should be waggled to simulate the motion of drinking such pint), to which the correct response would be "Aye." if you're from the North or "Yes, I would quite like to partake in the consumption of alcoholic beverages in a public house with you." if you're from the South.

    Even if they can't be addressed differently, getting honored by the Queen is still pretty cool.
