Chinese MMO Company Sued Over In-Game Losses
Post Date: May 22, 2008
Category: Games -> MMO
Chinese MMO operator Shanda Entertainment is being sued by a denizen of the company's Legend of Mir II over the loss of 31 virtual items, all of which mysteriously vanished from the player's in-game inventory over the last year.

The player, surnamed Wen, is seeking a little over $14,000 USD in damages from the company in a suit filed in the Shanghai Pudong District People's Court.

    I'd laugh more if this was the first of this kind of case to surface..

    Pretty sad, if you ask me.

      Hah yeah. Its possible, depending, that kid may actually win.

      If the EULA has anything type of SLA in it... missing items for that long? That would bust any MMO SLA.

        I still think it's kinda.. Over the top. It's like people whining that the server is down or something. It's not going to have any effect on your life, really.

          Sure, but these people are paying money in exchange for a certain level of ensured service. If they is ignored to a point where it is extremely obvious that the company has renigged on the exchange agreement, then what else are you going to do.

          Granted, I think suing them is hurting yourself more than it is them, but hell, if you have nothing else better to do. :P

            I see where you're coming from, but I think that suing is quite.. Over the top :b

              Oh I agree, which is why I would not do it. But from a sociological point of view, many corporations rely on that kind of thinking on the part of their customers, which motivates them to continue with their horrid customer service.

              Yes, now I am just arguing it. :)
