Tom Forsyth, a Software engineer for Intel, posted a blog about a week ago, clearing up any confusion people had with Intels upcoming "discrete GPU" (Or, onboard GPU for the rest of us). On his blog, which can be found here, he explains quite a lot.
"I've been trying to keep quiet, but I need to get one thing very clear. Larrabee is going to render DirectX and OpenGL games through rasterisation, not through raytracing." He's referring to the statement made by Pat Gelsinger at IDF, who claimed that rasterisation was coming to an end for graphics rendering, and that Larrabee was going to change that with a ray-tracing approach. Tom certainly cleared it up for me. How about you, or haven't you been following it? |
