Vivendi and Activision's merger seems to be knocking down the chances of some games. Among the first victims, Ghostbusters seems to be a target. The publishers will be forming Activision-Blizzard, and have said five games will be coming along for the ride: Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age, Spyro, Prototype, and a yet-to-be-named title.

Ghostbusters is obviously not in the running.

Konami has been forced to apologize for ongoing problems with Metal Gear Online, following the recent introduction of the Gene Expansion pack last week.

A statement on the company’s website admits that the introduction of the expansion was “marred by major system related problems” and reveals that there are “no permanent solutions we can announce at this present moment”.

Ubisoft, the long maligned games company, has had another low blow today after it was discovered that the NoCD patch they released for the PC version of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 to fix the horribly broken DRM system was actually a stolen version of an illegal NoCD crack by the group Reloaded. A glance with a hex editor reveals their calling card in the code. What's more hilarious is that their release of such a patch compromises their own hard line stance on piracy.

Japanese-headquartered publisher Konami has sued Rock Band developer Harmonix over alleged patent infringements with its range of rhythm action games and associated controllers.

Konami’s long-running Guitar Freaks and DrumMania series of titles feature similar gameplay to Rock Band and also use musical instrument shaped controllers. Konami also publishes a range of karaoke themed games, including the Karaoke Revolution series on consoles, which Harmonix has worked on in the past.

I don't know where this lady comes up with her ideas, but a Connecticut Senator announced in a press conference that you can rape a woman in Grand Theft Auto 4. Now press and parents are freaking out over a non-existent rape scene. And to make matters worse, our most favorite Florida Attorney, Jack Thompson, contacted the Senator and offered to help her raise awareness of the game. Jack knows good and well that there is no rape in GTA 4 but still pounces on every opportunity to bash the game.

Harmonix confirmed that Rock Band 2 is due out in September, but did not confirm the existence of a Wii Version. They only specified it was going to release on the 360 in September and release on the PS3 soon after, but not on the same day.

Some gamers discovered that that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith absolutely despises the Rock Band Guitar and will not allow you to use it to play the game. This problem exists on all platforms of the game, including the Wii Version.

NCSoft has seemingly decided to pretend they never got involved with Tabula Rasa. But, as Gotgame.com's Rob Van Dam states, "It didn’t work for David Hasselhoff’s herpes and it won’t work for the Tabula Rasa debacle either."
