It's all over the wires this morning: the Xbox 360 is making money! Our particular feature, however, come from Edge Online writer Tom Ivan.

"Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, says his unit hasn’t seen a slowdown in consumer spending in the face of the economic downturn."

For the rest of Ivan's bit about MSEDD and Bach's words, you can check out the story: http://www.edge-online.co…affected-slumping-economy

From GamesIndustry.biz

Epic's Gears of War franchise senior producer, Rod Fergusson, has said the developer's titles are starting to reach the upper end of Xbox 360's capabilities.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Fergusson said he believes developers in general are closing in on the limits of what Microsoft's console can do, but added that games will continue to look better as they spend more time working on the platform.

From Edge Online:

Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian believes Microsoft is likely to cut the prices of its three Xbox 360 models in the US following the company’s decision to do so in Japan from September 11.

“We believe the Japan announcement is a likely precursor to more aggressive pricing of the Xbox 360 in the US, and we continue to expect a lower $199 price point on the base Arcade sku (below the $249 Wii price point), as well as lower $299 and $399 prices for the 60GB . . . Read more

Gamers all over the internet are already talking about the Xbox 720, and trying to judge the pros and cons of the console upon it's release. To help some of them make a little more informed set up opinions about the console, gamersworldbd.com has put together a series of points for everyone to read over and consider.

After reading over them, I can say I remain optimistic about the console, but I'll reserve any serious judgment for when I can actually play on one and see how it goes.

So, another rumor swirling around the vast sea that is the internet are Mii-style avatars for the XBOX. Now, personally, I don't really like the idea..but that's not the point here.

The point is that there is a possibility these things are being worked on, and like them or hate them, if they show up, they'll no doubt be here to stay.

After all, it is Microsoft, and they will do as they please.

At any rate, I got this bit of information from a few places, so I just stuck with the link fr . . . Read more

Microsoft has made the promise that it will never cancel the development of any game it has announced to the public, in a move that's obviously supposed to show up Sony's cancellation of the PS3 titles Eight Days and The Getaway.

Such a move by Microsoft could be termed as brave, and one supporting its Xbox 360 platform to its upmost - but also it could open us up to a barrage of sub-par titles, as internal policies stop poor games being cancelled before they hit retail.

Talk about an ironic title for a game - Infinite Undiscovery. Nevermind the mind boggling nature of its name, Square Enix will be targeting a September 2 shipping date for this Xbox 360 title, making it the first in a completely new lineup of Square Enix titles for Microsoft’s console. This fantasy RPG was co-developed with tri-Ace Inc., so fans of the genre can expect something different from the usual Final Fantasy mix of characters and spells, and not on a Sony nor Nintendo platform to boot . . . Joystiq recently interviewed Jerry "Tycho" Holkins about the creation and release of On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, which is out on XBox Live and available at the Greenhouse website.

Here is a short bit from the interview:

Joystiq: You've intimated several times in the past that you're unsure you would have made the game if you'd known how much work it was going to be. Now that the game is launching, do you still feel that way?

Fable 2 is shaping up to be one of the year's biggest blockbusters.

Lionhead Studios' sprawling RPG features hour after hour of deep and meaningful gameplay, or so Peter Molyneux, Lionhead's personable head honcho will have you believe. Looking at the latest batch of screenshots, one thing's for sure - it's no ugly duckling.

Fable 2 allows you to "virtually" live your life from start to finish, engaging in various quests and adventures along the way. Much talk has been vaunted about some o . . . Read more

This is surely one of Microsoft’s trump cards for the approaching holiday season. The game will bring “a wealth of knowledge, story-based design and gameplay expertise to the next generation of video gaming,” according to Microsoft.
