Second Life We know about the Japanese yen, the Euro and the U.S. dollar.

Now there's the Linden.

The Linden dollar is used in a 3-D online virtual world to buy and sell virtual objects such as motorcycles, cars, furniture, houses and clothes. People create their own animated characters, called avatars, and use the virtual objects to explore a computer-generated world called Second Life for social, entertainment, educational and economic reasons.

The sequel to Ubisoft's action-adventure title Beyond Good & Evil will appeal to casual gamers moreso than the first game, Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot said at the recent Ubidays press event in Paris.

"We saw with Beyond Good & Evil that so many customers were extremely happy with the game," said Guillemot to Next-Gen. "We had a different audience at that time. We had more core gamers than casual gamers than we have today."

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare It seems that the green giant Nvidia have fired their wallet at Infinity Ward.

Some of you may remember that map pack that appeared for all the console users, that got Microsoft in the news again, because it was the most downloaded thing on XBL since the dawn of time, and netted several million.

You may also remember that us PC users got stiffed, and had to wait quite some time before we got it. Infact, we're still waiting.

However, thanks to Nvidia (I'm starting to think they might not . . . Read more

As to whether or not this is really "news," it is at the least an editorial from a hardcore gamer. Many people on NapalmRiot would call themselves something more than a casual gamer. In fact, I would venture a guess that most of the active people here have a passion for gaming, it's more than a hobby; it's a lifestyle. So why do big corporations continually slap us in the face with movie tie-ins?

If any of you have ever played a game based off of a movie or a television series, you'll know . . . Read more

As many people are aware, earlier this year the now-combined companies of Activision and Vivendi announced they would not attend E3 this year. Even more shocking, both companies are withdrawing from the Entertainment Software Association, the U.S. trade body for entertainment and video game companies. Most all significant publishers are members of the ESA, a withdrawal of these major companies was big news.

Then LucasArts announced their retreat in the days following. Citing that it was no . . . Read more

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade So, apparently the EU WoW guild SK Gaming have taken the first kill of the final 'boss' enemy to be added to WoW before Lich King launches some time this year.

So, it seems some researchers at Stanford, lead by Allan Reiss, have been looking at what the differences between male and female gamers.

It is a bit on the wordy side, but it's not a bad read, and best of all, it makes reasonable sense.

"After analyzing the imaging data for the entire group, the researchers found that the participants showed activation in the brain's mesocorticolimbic center, the region typically associated with reward and addiction. Male brains, however, showed much grea . . . Read more

Talk about an ironic title for a game - Infinite Undiscovery. Nevermind the mind boggling nature of its name, Square Enix will be targeting a September 2 shipping date for this Xbox 360 title, making it the first in a completely new lineup of Square Enix titles for Microsoft’s console. This fantasy RPG was co-developed with tri-Ace Inc., so fans of the genre can expect something different from the usual Final Fantasy mix of characters and spells, and not on a Sony nor Nintendo platform to boot . . . I was reading through the list of news articles I had to filter through, and I stumbled upon this article about a movie adaption of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Curious, I decided to open it and give it a read, and promptly got a nervous twitch.

First off, this is Jake Gyllenhaal; and secondly, Disney is responsible, and my insides hurt. Now, I know Disney has made great mov . . . Read more
