One of the blogs I read on occasion to scope out some extra news bits discussed playing Dead Frontier, and I decided to give it a try for discussion here.

As it turns out, the entire thing is a browser-based game. It seems to work alright in Firefox, but it's a bit sluggish on loading various screens. The game is still in it's beta stages, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on that.

I entered in as Anarya, a First Level Police Officer that managed to survive this zombie uprising . . . Read more

The pulling power of Games Workshop’s futuristic Warhammer 40,000 franchise is surprising. As a boy, I dabbled in this world, until I got fed up with grown men shouting “Waaaaaaaggggh” while hunched over their collection of expertly painted Orks.

So I left it all behind, but never lost the theoretical interest in that sort of thing (not the shouting, the gaming). 15 years later, Dawn of War II is moving the franchise further into the digital sphere, after the very successful first itera . . . Read more

Microsoft is rumored to bring Hotmail, Windows Live Mail, Live Messenger video chat and support for "motion sensor devices" to the Xbox 360 as part of a spring update. Every spring and fall Microsoft releases a large update and this year it is no different as Kotaku received a supposed insider e-mail containing a list of 80 new features being added to the console.

Most of the rumored updates and added features are pretty trivial, but the big addition will be supports for Hotmail, video chat f . . . Read more

As Sangue settles in to read her massive list of gaming news, one particular bit of news catches her eye, and the sound of her elated squeal can be heard as far out as England; no doubt scaring half the world in the process:

Silicon Knights shed some light on the possibility of an Eternal Darkness sequel at Microsoft's Gamer Day 2008.

Goblins aren't the most well treated of fantasy races. Usually depicted as savages hell bent on carving up dwarves and anyone else chancing their arm at some good old fashioned dungeon crawling, green skins, it would be fair to say, don't enjoy a good press. Well, that's all about to change. Firefly Studios, of Stronghold fame, is attempting to sprinkle some positive PR on the misunderstood goblin race with its new third-person PC and Xbox 360 action game Dungeon Hero. We unsheathed our broad sw . . . Read more

Fable 2 is shaping up to be one of the year's biggest blockbusters.

Lionhead Studios' sprawling RPG features hour after hour of deep and meaningful gameplay, or so Peter Molyneux, Lionhead's personable head honcho will have you believe. Looking at the latest batch of screenshots, one thing's for sure - it's no ugly duckling.

In development since 1999, Silicon Knights’ Too Human for the 360 is finally nearing completion.

This is surely one of Microsoft’s trump cards for the approaching holiday season. The game will bring “a wealth of knowledge, story-based design and gameplay expertise to the next generation of video gaming,” according to Microsoft.

Features:

● Thrilling action-RPG gameplay. Unlike some games that may force players to choose between two genres, “Too Human” combines all the crea . . . Read more
More good news for you Charter ISP subscribers! Seems like Charter is using or is going to implement some deep-packet inspection hardware that essentially knows what you've browsed for and for how long, and then they sell that information to ad companies for super targeted ads. VERY important to note that this is an opt-OUT thing not an opt-IN deal.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots "Metal Gear Solid 4" has a new video, released only this morning. The video comes with a full thirteen minutes-and-then-some combination of introductory cinematic and gameplay, "essentially capturing the experience of starting up MGS 4 for the first time," (Mike Fahey, Kotaku news team)

If you are at all hesitant about seeing this video, I'm warning you. This video = spoilers. Nothing major, only what you would expect from the beginning of any game.

The virtual service combines images and databases from every major telescope and astronomical organization in the world.

Blimey - what a mouthful. I guess we don't expect brevity in titles from the guys behind Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, but this is getting a little bit ridiculous. Still, at least the name is descriptive: Square-Enix's new Wii game is a member of the Dragon Quest family, Swords are involved and there is - not wishing to give the game away - a masked queen in a Tower of Mirrors at some point in the game. The key word in all this is Swords. Anyone wanting an epic RPG on the lines . . . Read more

Second Life Last week, Representative Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) went on the warpath to launch a campaign to ask the FTC to issue a consumer alert about Second Life and ban the virtual world's "rape rooms" from school libraries. "Parents should be worried about one of the fastest growing websites on the planet, called Second Life," said Kirk in an interview last night with a local news channel. "It's the next level up from MySpace, a fully 3D interactive experience now totaling over 6 million people online."

It seems that a user on MemeStreams.net has found that Charter ISP is messing with their DNS servers. I don't have charter cable, and so I can't verify it, but perhaps our Charter ISP users could comment on what they feel about this and if they have been having any problems.

Second Life Some very real money was on the line when a Pennsylvania lawyer recently sued a San Francisco-based company over a online property deal that went sour.

The real estate at the centre of the dispute was entirely imaginary.

The lawyer, Marc Bragg, was seeking thousands in damages for breach of contract and unfair trade practices after he purchased virtual property in Second Life, a 3-D world that exists only online. And when owner Linden Lab terminated his account, he sued. The dispute was ev . . . Read more

According to GameLayers, the casual multiplayer game brings online social play into web browsers. PMOG gives players points for surfing with a PMOG Firefox extension, which can then be used to leave traps or treasure on any website for other players to find.

“There’s a reason we wanted to make a passively-multiplayer online game,” said GameLayers CEO and co-founder Justin Hall.

“Ideally we want to constantly play games but we don’t have time. A passive game is something we c . . . Read more
