Internet service providers cannot ration service to heavy users of the Internet, the Federal Communications Commission rules this week. The FCC said that Comcast, one of the largest Internet service providers, broke the law when it slowed the transfer of video files among a group of its customers to ensure that other customers had adequate bandwidth. the FCC ruled that Comcast had no right to act as Internet traffic cop.

A start-up called Cuil is mounting a challenge to Google's dominance of the Internet search business, said Michael Liedtke in the Associated Press. Vivendi and Activision's merger seems to be knocking down the chances of some games. Among the first victims, Ghostbusters seems to be a target. The publishers will be forming Activision-Blizzard, and have said five games will be coming along for the ride: Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age, Spyro, Prototype, and a yet-to-be-named title.Ghostbusters is obviously not in the running. Microsoft's Xbox Live counterpart for the PC is getting a much needed facelift, according to the GFW head Kevin Unangst. After many missteps and bad press, Microsoft is looking to mend it's ways.

After the closing of Stage6, gamers flocked to Vimeo to host their high definition, downloadable videos, due to the high definition capabilities and large file upload size. However, the company has decided to ban all video game related videos from being uploaded to the site to allow for more creative content.

Speaking at GameFest in Seattle, Epic's Mike Capps has been discussing Unreal Engine 4, suggesting the next version of the dominant game engine is in production and will debut "...in the next console generation - our rough guess is 2012 - 2018."

Nintendo has partnered with FujiFilm to launch the Digital Camera Print Channel, a new service for Japanese Wii consoles that allows users to order prints of their online photos, as well as business cards featuring a user's Mii avatar.
